Rock Bottom

I see the pain in your eyes
A feigned smile on your face
Your heartache runs so deep
It’s all you know to embrace

You push away those who care
To the one’s who don’t, you cling
You are afraid of getting too close
Because if they leave it’ll sting

You’d rather spend life alone
Than add to the inner torment
You are your own worst enemy
So in the silence you lament

Finally, at the end of your rope
You fall to your knees in prayer
Pleading for God’s intervention
Knowing that He’s always there

In your times of great suffering
He will see you through to the end
If you let Him tear down the wall
Your broken soul He will mend
