Old year passes
A new dawn breaks
With the same lies
And more mistakes
“Out with the old
In with the new”
A familiar phrase
But so untrue
Dreams become life
Reality washed away
Causing many to fall
Into bitter dismay
I pray this year
Proves me wrong
And in our hearts
God’s love waxes strong
